Certified Product Destruction & Disposal for Food, Beverage, and CPG Brands

When product can’t be sold, it still has to be handled right. Whether a co-packer run came back off-spec, a shipment took on water in transit, a lot is past its date, or an insurance adjuster has closed a claim and the goods need to go, Nationwide Prestige Warehousing manages certified product destruction from receipt to Certificate of Destruction, so your brand, your records, and your reputation stay protected. We handle destruction the same way we handle fulfillment: with documented control at every step and a single accountable point of contact who answers the phone

Why brands can’t just throw product away

Consumer packaged goods, especially food and beverage, carry obligations that don’t end when the product is written off. The FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) places recordkeeping and traceability expectations on firms that manufacture, process, pack, or hold food, and the Food Traceability Rule adds lot-level recordkeeping for many food categories. If product is ever the subject of a recall, an FDA inquiry, or an insurance claim, you will be asked to show what happened to it, when, and who handled it.

Product that ends up in an open dumpster can be scavenged, resold, or consumed. Branded packaging that isn’t destroyed can be counterfeited or diverted. And a claim without proof of disposal is a claim that can be denied. Certified destruction closes every one of those gaps.

What our certified destruction service includes

Intake and documentation. Every pallet is photographed and videoed on arrival. We log SKUs, item descriptions, lot and batch numbers, quantities, gross weights, and the reason for disposal. This is the record that supports your traceability file and your insurance claim.

Segregated, secure hold. Product designated for destruction is quarantined from saleable inventory and held in a controlled area so nothing is picked, shipped, or mixed by mistake.

Rendering product unsaleable. Depending on the product, we alter or denature it so it cannot be consumed or resold: liquids are drained, dry goods are wetted or dyed, packaging is defaced or destroyed. Product is secured to prevent leaks, pests, and odors while it waits for pickup.

Disposal at our facility, certified destruction through vetted partners. Product is received, stored, and prepped at our Grand Prairie facility. Standard disposal is handled by our team. When a formal Certificate of Destruction is required, we deliver the product under a documented bill of lading to a licensed destruction and recycling facility in the DFW area. Where the product qualifies, it’s routed away from the landfill to animal feed, organic recycling, or packaging recovery; where it doesn’t, it goes to a permitted disposal site. Either way, the chain of custody is tied to your lot numbers from our dock to the
destruction facility.

Certificate of Destruction (COD). After destruction is complete, you receive a formal Certificate of Destruction referencing your company name, the bill of lading number, pallet quantity, product description, and date. Keep it on file for FDA, auditors, your co-packer, or your insurance carrier.

Who this is for

  • Food and beverage brands with a co-packer lot that failed QC on taste, texture, or formulation.
  • Brands and freight forwarders with damaged freight after a transit or storage incident.
  • Insurance-related disposals where the adjuster has inspected and the owner has elected to destroy the goods.
  • Growing CPG brands with expired, discontinued, mislabeled, or obsolete inventory that needs a clean, documented exit.
  • Companies outside Texas who need a DFW partner to receive, inspect, hold, and destroy product locally instead of paying to ship it back.

How the process works

  1. Tell us what you have. Product type, packaging, pallet count, approximate weight, and why it’s being destroyed. We’ll quote a flat, all-in price.
  2. Send the paperwork. We require a signed disposal authorization on the product owner’s letterhead confirming the owner relinquishes the goods, authorizes Nationwide Prestige to destroy them, and that the material is non-hazardous. We also need a packing list with SKUs, lot numbers, and weights. These details go on your Certificate of Destruction, so accuracy matters.
  3. We receive and document. Photos, video, counts, and weights at intake. If an insurance inspector needs to view the product, we host the inspection.
  4. We prep, dispose, or deliver for destruction. Product is rendered unsaleable and secured at our facility. Standard disposal is completed by our team; certified destruction jobs are delivered by our carrier to a vetted destruction facility under a documented bill of lading.
  5. You get the certificate. The Certificate of Destruction is delivered to you as a PDF for your records, your carrier, or your insurer.
